“The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that can have significant implications on a child’s ability to function and interface with the world around them. The disorder spans a spectrum from the least affected to the most severely affected. Those with the most severe disability need a lot of help with their daily lives whereas those that are least affected may not.”
Darshana & Rajesh Sawant, parents of Varun, an Autistic child, organized this RUN with the help of Kaushik Panchal of Runners Academy. Participants’ age was right from 5 yrs to 80+ yrs and many of them came all the way from Navi Mumbai and South Mumbai to support this Autism Awareness Run.
This was first ever event in India where 50+ plus ASD kids ran on the roads of Mumbai for a distance of 2k & 5k. Run ended with superb performances by these kids in front of all the runners after completing their 2 & 5k run.
We take this opportunity to thank Members of Goregaon Sports Club (GSC), Chickoowadi Residents Welfare Association, Members of Runners Academy, Doctors, Physiotherapist and all the Volunteers who supported for the success of this event.
We are also thankful to our Chief Guests Ms. Alona Kapoor (wife of Sanjeev Kapoor), our Mentor Shri Mahadev Samjiskarji and Mr. Kevin Pereira from Procam for taking out time and supporting this event.
